Chris Stussy is set to debut his new event concept, USS, in London early next year.
The inaugural event will take place at the Roundhouse on February 1st, and USS will encourage attendees to “step back, strip away the excess, and focus on the essential elements of music,” according to a press release.
In a statement, Stussy elaborated on the philosophy behind USS: “Today, almost everything is designed to be fast, on-demand, exposing us to multiple stimuli at once, often without us even realizing it. It’s no surprise that this has led to a society with a shorter attention span. Try listening to music with your eyes closed, without distractions, and you’ll truly experience it.”
He continued, “If I were to launch my own event, it had to be something that serves as a counter-movement to this trend. Instead of constantly adding more, I want to keep things simple. I strongly believe that this will create a better music and dancefloor experience.”
USS will focus on creating a mindful, minimalistic environment with few distractions. Lighting will play a key role, featuring soft lights and calming colors designed to enhance the atmosphere without overwhelming it. “I can’t wait to see this come to life at the Roundhouse in London!” Stussy said.
He will be joined by several special guests for the launch party, with the full line-up set to be revealed in the coming months. Details on tickets can be found here.
